Technical Session: Bringing Crude to Chemicals Complex to Achieve Net Zero

In today's world, the expanding chemical value chain requires superior processing flexibility to shift hydrocarbons from fuels to olefins and aromatics molecules achieving un-precedent conversions and yields targets. As an answer to this demand, Crude To Chemicals (CTC) complexes consist of a deep integration of state-of-the art refining and petrochemical technologies, which traditionally emit carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Appropriate technical solutions and sound design approaches now makes it possible to deploy these technologies in compliance with stringent carbon foot print reduction objectives and thus serve the industry commitment to reduce carbon emissions. Owing to appropriate combinations of multiple Low Carbon Solutions & Technologies, Axens demonstrates that Net Zero Carbon Crude To Chemicals complexes are technically feasible and economically viable.

In the paper, we plan to drive you through the different aspects of a CTC complex with a focus on the carbon foot print of the technologies it employs. Then present how the carbon foot print of the CTC complex could be reduced to nil applying a variety of Low Carbon Solutions. An economic study incorporating carbon emissions value in a near future details the impact on capital and operating expenditures on such Complex.

CTC complex technologies and deployed Low Carbon Solutions will be highlighted. Case studies on their possible combinations to achieve net zero carbon emissions will be presented.
