CRISTINA MARTÍNEZ

Tenured Researcher, INSTITUTO DE TECNOLOGÍA QUÍMICA (ITQ), UPV-CISC

Biography

Cristina Martínez is a Tenured Researcher of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Institute of Chemical Technology, UPV-CSIC, in Valencia, Spain. She received her B.S. degree in Chemistry at University of Valencia in 1991 and completed her PhD in Chemistry at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in1996. Her thesis, carried out at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ), under the guidance of Prof. Avelino Corma and Prof. Agustín Martínez, was focused on the catalytic behavior of different type of solid acids (zeolites, heteropolyacids and sulfated oxides) in the liquid phase alkylation of isobutane with butenes. After a short stay at the Institüt für Technische Chemie at Leipzig University, in the group of Prof. Papp, she returned to ITQ. Since 2006 she is a Tenured Scientist of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and her research is focused on the application of optimized heterogeneous catalysts to industrially relevant processes within the refining and petrochemical areas.

She is co-author of 70 publications in international peer-review journals (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4415-084X), some of them in multidisciplinary journals (Nature, Nature Chem., Angew. Chem., Int. Ed., J. Am. Chem. Soc, Coord. Chem. Rev., Chem. Commun., Chem. Sci., Chem. Soc. Rev.), and has presented over 50 contributions to international and national conferences, in 8 occasions as an invited speaker. She has also participated in research projects with public funding, and has been collaborating actively with industry since 1997. She is co-inventor of 19 patent applications. In January 2023 she joined the Editorial Council for the journal Microporous and Mesoporous Materials (ISSN 1387-1811, Elsevier) and since May 2023 she is Editorial Board Member of Green Carbon (ISSN 2950-1555, Elsevier).

Her research is focused on the application of optimized heterogeneous catalysts, mainly zeolite based, to industrially relevant processes within the refining and petrochemical areas.
