GUOBIN WEI

Expert, SINOPEC BEIJING RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY (BRICI)

Biography

Mr. Guobin Wei graduated at Beijing University of Chemical Technology and received his PhD. in applied chemistry. He joined the Ethylene Division on SINOPEC Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry (SINOPEC BRICI) in 2003. He is an organic chemicals expert providing technical guidance in the field of ethylene cracking separation.

Mr. Wei’s principal research focuses on the development of catalysts and separation processes including the selective hydrogenation of low carbon alkynes/dienes, the impurity purification, and the advance process control (APC) of reactors. He has developed acetylene and MAPD removal catalysts which have been applied industrially in SINOPEC ethylene plants with different processes. Mr. Wei holds over 60 patents, and has published multiple research papers.

Mr. Wei has participated in the First-set Crude Oil Direct Steam Cracking Project in China since 2021, and is responsible for the research of organic sulfur removal technology and hydrogenation catalysts with sulfur tolerant.
