Francisco D. Nieves Bogonez

Biography

Dr Francisco D. Nieves Bogonez works as Lead Lab Scientist in Aramco, R&D Non-Metallic
division (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia), leading Non-Metallics Development for the Automotive Sector.
After graduating in Industrial Engineering and nearly 10 years of professional experience in
composite materials and applications, he moved to academia where he secured first a MRes
and later a PhD in the University of Birmingham, School of Metallurgy and Materials. Then he
moved to back to the industry, mainly working in the National Composite Centre in diverse
positions and areas, until taking over the role of Principal Engineer for the Energy sector.
Dr Nieves Bogonez’s general research interests are focused on developing novel non-metallic
solutions for diverse sectors in general, and structural mechanics of composites and health
structural monitoring in particular.
