Haritz Sardon

Biography

Dr. Haritz Sardon is an Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country-POLYMAT and group leader of the Catalysis and Sustainable Polymers Group (https://haritzsardonlab.com/). He has a strong expertise in polymer synthesis, organocatalysis and biomaterials. His current work focuses on the synthesis of new polymers using “green” polymerization processes. The quality of Dr. Sardon has led to publications in leading journals such as JACS, Angew Chem, Science, Nature, Nat. Comm. He has more than 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals that have received over 7000 citations and his h-index reaches 48. Since he moved to the University of the Basque Country in 2016, he has established an independent research group that is composed by 4 Post-Docs, 14 PhD students, 2 master and 2 undergraduate. He has experience in the guidance of projects having successfully supervised up to 10 PhD theses. He has a very strong international and mentoring vocation, clearly demonstrated by the amount of international PhD students and Post-Docs, in addition to a considerable number of international collaborations. He has been recently awarded by the prestigious Macromolecules Young Investigator Award (2021) and the Young Investigator Award by the Spanish Royal Society (2021).
