Biography

Renaud Nicolaÿ received his Ph.D. degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009, working under the supervision of Professor Krzysztof Matyjaszewski. In 2010, he joined the group of Professor E. W. Meijer at the Eindhoven University of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher. Later that year, he took a position of assistant professor at the ESPCI Paris, where he is now Professor of Organic and Polymer Chemistry. He is leading the "Chemistry and Macromolecular Design" team within the “Molecular, Macromolecular Chemistry and Materials” laboratory at ESPCI Paris. The research activities of the team aim at developing new synthetic methodologies, as well as to design responsive formulations and high-performance recyclable materials. In this context, dynamic covalent chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and reactive processing are used as versatile tools to access formulations and materials whose connectivity and/or dynamics can be modulated with various stimuli. The team also seeks to highlight the structure/property relationships linking molecular dynamics, functionality and polymer topology to the macroscopic properties of materials incorporating transient physical and chemical bonds.
