Virginie Vidal was born in Paris. She completed her PhD degree at Paris-Sud University under the supervision of Professor H. P. Husson and Dr J. Royer at Gif, in France and was a FRM postdoctoral fellow at the University of Montreal with Professor S. Hanessian in Canada (1990), and in 1991 with Professor P. Potier and Dr R. H. Dodd (Gif). She was appointed as a Associate Researcher with Professor J. P. Genêt at ENSCP in Paris. She is currently Research Director at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) at Chimie ParisTech-PSL University. Her research interests focus on the development of transition-metal catalysis, the design of atropisomeric ligands (Synphos and Difluorphos) and organometallic complexes for sustainable catalysis and the development of synthetic methods based on catalytic reagents for asymmetric stereocontrol. The synthesis of biorelevant targets is also a focus in her research group.
