​Dr. Jovana Zečević graduated in 2008 at the University of Belgrade where she studied chemical engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy. During her studies she spent a year in total at the Clausthal University of Technology, Germany, as a part of student exchange program and later to perform the research for her MSc thesis. In 2009 she started her PhD in the group of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis at Utrecht University, The Netherlands, under the supervision of Prof. Krijn P. de Jong, Prof. Petra E. de Jongh and Dr. Heiner Friedrich. After finalizing her PhD in 2013, she started a postdoctoral research in the same group during which she spent three months as a visiting researcher in the group of Prof. Niels de Jonge at Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Saarbrücken, Germany. In 2014 she was appointed Assistant Professor at Utrecht University. Soon after she was rewarded a prestigious Dutch national grant (NWO-Veni) to start her in-situ transmission electron microscopy line of research. Her research interests involve application of advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM) tools for characterization of catalysts and oxide materials, with the aim of understanding fundamentals and utilizing obtained knowledge for improving nanomaterials design. Besides using electron tomography for 3D nanoscale imaging, she is now focusing on application of liquid- and gas-phase TEM for in-situ studies of oxides and related nanomaterials in water and other liquid and gas environments.
