Biography

Sander van Bavel is currently program lead for the Long Range Research program Methane to Products at Shell. Previously roles were mainly in the field of heterogeneous catalysis with a strong focus on basic research, including areas of Gas to Liquids and direct olefin epoxidation. His work also involved leveraging existing tools employed in fundamental catalyst research in other fields, such as oil recovery. Sander joined Shell's Innovation, Research & Development organization in 2006 after obtaining his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. Sander is co-author of several scientific papers and patents and takes scientific interest in a number of fields, ranging from surface science, to kinetics and molecular modelling to catalysis.
