Conference Banner 2022

Carbon Capture and Utilization is of great interest to KAUST, the Kingdom and the scientific community. CO2 capture and utilization represents one of the most challenging opportunities to meet future energy demand and also to minimize the impact on the environment. The objective of this conference is thus to serve as a platform for the research community issues at KAUST and across the world to receive an in-depth understanding of the challenges existing in this field and the potential strategies to address them through vivid discussions, exchanging innovative ideas and presenting new research findings from professionals across the world.

The KAUST Research Conference: Carbon Capture and Utilization: Challenges and Opportunities in Catalysis brings together some of the brightest and most influential minds to discuss:

  • The overall perspective of carbon capture and utilization in mitigating climate change.
  • New materials and processes for CO2 capture under various conditions.
  • Novel catalysis and synthetic protocols and the opportunities for converting CO2 to value-added chemicals.
  • Challenges in environmental and industrial utilization of CO2, including alternative energy sources.

The Three-day research conference will take place between May 16 – 18, 2022 in the auditorium between buildings 2 and 3. An accompanying poster session will be held in the KAUST University library on May 16th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The conference will also be simultaneously presented via Zoom.
