KAUST Research Conference: New Challenges in Heterogeneous Catalysis

The KAUST Catalysis Research Center organized the third KAUST Research Conference, "New challenges in heterogeneous catalysts", which took place from 29 to 31 January, 2018. This prestigious international conference brought together members of the global scientific community to discuss and share ideas in the field of Catalysis.

Researchers, scientists and students from all over the world gathered to share new experiences and ideas and to discuss heterogeneous catalysis challenges. This involved the design of new processes, development of new chemistry and catalytic materials, and the understanding of catalytic processes at a higher level. The KCC conference focused on the activation of small molecules, particularly methane and carbon dioxide.

The KAUST Research Conference was highlighted by the participation of leading women in the field of Catalysis.

Professor Unni Olsbye Unni Olsbye is Professor and leader of the Catalysis Section at the Chemistry Department of the University of Oslo (UiO	Professor Laura Gagliardi Laura Gagliardi is currently a Distinguished McKnight Professor at Minnesota University	Professor Silvia Bordiga Silvia Bordiga is Full Prof. in Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Torino. Since 2012 she is also Prof. II at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Oslo	Assistant Professor Jovana Zecevic Jovana Zecevic is currently Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, The Netherlands	Doctor Anissa Bendjeriou-Sedjerari Anissa Bendjeriou-Sedjerari is Research Scientist at KAUST, Saudi Arabia

The conference also included a poster competition. More than 50 posters from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were submitted and presented. The winners were honored during the closing remarks. Read more.
