​The FTIR spectrometer is used to analyze solid catalyst samples during reaction conditions for gas phase reactions. It provides vibrational information about chemically bonded surface reaction intermediates which can give insight into the catalytic reaction mechanism. It can also be used to study liquid samples using an ATR-IR attachment.
